WELCOME

I am delighted to welcome you to the 15th Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference. With the support of major sponsors Kawai, Hal Leonard, AMEB and Monash University, the 2024 Conference will be hosted by the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance, Monash University.

Beyond the Notes is an opportunity to expand and deepen our professional practice as pianists, musicians and educators by exploring creative, imaginative and embodied approaches to developing pianism and musicianship, to approaching repertoire, and to fostering students’ creativity. We will explore unjustly neglected areas of the repertoire, learn about holistic and sustainable approaches to piano playing, and share research-informed teaching practices to support students of all ages and levels.

An array of exceptional speakers, presenters and performers will share their research, experience and artistry through keynote presentations, masterclasses, workshops, concerts, discussions and lecture-recitals.

We look forward to welcoming you to Monash University for this stimulating week of shared learning!
